     In the prequel to The Matrix films, called The Second Renaissance, Part II, an episode of the larger animated film series known as The Animatrix.  The war begins with a massive coalition of human nations deciding to drop nuclear bombs on the Machine Nation known as Zero One.  And no one is alone in asking how Machines can even survive.  This question is discussed on Reddit.  It has been discussed on Facebook comments, YouTube Comments, Twitter, etc.  But on a Blog named Radio Kaos, there might finally be an answer.

    The Machines basically survived using something in real-life science known as a Faraday Cage, which would absorb the EMP, and using something similar to, if not using Zion before it became a human city, was also in the explanation.  But don't just take my word for it.
